Ahhh my first blog. I never thought in a million years I would be “this” person. I guess maternity leave will do that to a person. Recently, I’ve been having these conversations in my head and it dawned on me that it might help if I could write some of my thoughts down and create some possible discussion. Mostly though its to kill time and stop my brain from turning to mush.
so without further ado….
Ok, so I’m married and have 2 beautiful boys. I’m Canadian, husband is from England and we live in New Zealand. Our son Owen is almost 3 years old and baby Daniel is only just 4 months old as I type this. Why crunchykidz? Or even, what on earth does that even mean? The quick answer? I’m not really sure but I’m guessing it’s to do with hippy organic all natural types being describes as granola, which I don’t get and granola is crunchy? Hmmm. These are terms which are mostly used in America and I needed to come up with a name for my blog so I could start typing. Yep its lame but who really cares.
Since January 2014, I have embarked on a more “crunchy” lifestyle. However I’m no die hard. I guess I would be considered crunchy lite. I removed most chemicals from my life (I use only natural products to clean my house, wash my clothes, wash my hair and body etc.) however I still use chemically ridden toothpaste, I tried the natural stuff and just couldn’t do it. It’s minging to say the least. Also I still clean my loo with good ol harpic or toilet duck as I haven’t found a good alternative yet. We eat organic wholefood as much as we can but allow treats mixed in – you can’t beat chip shop fish n’chips on the beach with an ice cream for desert!
Hubs and I raise our boys as naturally as possible, they bathe mostly in just warm water and we don’t worry about them catching bugs. Perhaps its coincidence or genes but our 3 year old has never been sick enough to see a doctor. In fact, hes only met our doctor once and that was to do with getting a referral to see a specialist for his now diagnosed social communication disorder. I believe by allowing him to be exposed to his environment, his immune system is crazy strong and better able to fight off infections. Way more about all this to come later.
so there you have it, a bit about me and the topics I will be blogging about. I hope you enjoy some of it and take part in any discussion.
